│ 4.0 CMReader - GAME FILE FORMAT │
╘═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╛
The file MUST be in standard ASCII text form and contain NO embedded
control codes, extended ASCII characters, etc. Refer to your word
processor or text editor documentation on how to generate this type of
file.
Only ONE game per file and the contents would be similar to the
following example of a partial game:
#White:BUD BRADLEY (1711)
#Black:FREDDY FISH L1 (1305)
#These are the game headers and can be up to 3 lines.
1. f2-f4 b8-c6
@This is a non-displayed comment.
2. g1-f3 g8-f6
<This is a Black-Side comment
<and can be up to
<3 lines of 79 characters each.
3. b2-b3 f6-d5
>This is a White-side comment
>and can be up to
>3 lines of 79 characters each.
╒═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕
│ 4.1 CMReader - Game File Format Rules & Guidelines │
╘═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╛
Comment Lines-
# = Game headers. Always 1st 3 lines in the game file.
line 1 = white player
line 2 = black player
line 3 = dates, location, etc.
@ = invisible (never displays)
> = Display After White-side Move
< = Display After Black-side Move
Comments may be up to 79 characters per line with a maximum of 3
contiguous lines prior to a move entry. A comment character must
be placed in the first column for it to be recognized as such by
CMReader.
Notation-
Long Algebraic : e2-e4
Short Algebraic : e4, Nf3, Nbd2, R1a2 etc..
Move Separator-
These can be any of the following:
e2-e4 e2;e4 e2xe4
The x is normally only used to designate captures.
Move Numbers-
Each White/Black move pair MUST have a line to themselves and
preceeded with a move number.
Correct-
1 e2-e4 g7-g6
or
1. e2-e4 g7-g6
╒═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕
│ 4.1 CMReaader - Game File Format Rules & Guidelines │
╘═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╛
Incorrect-
1 e2-e4
g7-g6
or
e2-e4
g7-g6
or
23.
The last incorrect example shows a move number that lacks a
corresponding move entry.
Note: The "." (i.e. period) is ignored by CMReader, so can either
be included or excluded, whichever you prefer.
Result Designation-
Draw = draw
Resignation = 1-0 or 0-1 or resigns
Mate = mate
Examples:
23. c1-e1 draw
23 c1-e1 resig or 23 c1-e1 1-0 or 23 c1-e1 0-1
23. c1-e1 mate
